Medication for Nepal team using a $12,500 donation from WeHelpNepal delivered life saving and essential drugs to 8 districts between December 2015 and February 2016. During that period, due to the economical blockade of India-Nepal border there was a severe shortage of medication in public hospitals around Nepal, including the biggest hospitals - Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu and Patan Hospital.
Stages
Firstly drugs had been delivered to the two public hospitals, specialized health centers serving around 2,5 mln people in Kathmandu Valley - Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu and Patan Hospital. Drugs included emergency medications like atropine and adrenaline, which are used in ER and ICU. The supply eased medication shortage for a 1-1,5 month.
Secondly drugs were delivered to District Health Offices in Doti, Baitadi, Bajura, Darchula, Accham (Far West Nepal), which are serving around 686 000 population. From there distributed to local, public hospitals and primary health centers. The supply covered demand for 1-2 months.
Lastly drugs were delivered to District Health Offices in Nuwakot and Dhading serving 600 000 population. From there it got distributed to local, public hospitals and primary health centers. The supply eased situation for 3 weeks.
